Please reach us at emily@kinfolkhealingcollective.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
At Kinfolk Healing Collective, we believe in treating the whole person, not just their symptoms. We take a holistic approach to health and wellness, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
I provide a range of therapeutic services including individual, family, couples, and group therapy. These therapy interventions may also include risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis care coordination to appropriate referrals. I also offer Emotional Support Animal (ESA) evaluations.
You can schedule directly through the booking page of this website, on Alma or Grow therapy websites, call the office, or submit a contact form. Once your request is received, you’ll get a confirmation email with instructions.
I currently accept select insurance plans, KY Medicaid, KY medicare, and offer private‑pay options on a sliding scale. For best information on your co-pays and if my services are in network please contact your insurance's directory. In alignment with the No Surprises Act, a good faith estimate will be provided to you before our initial session.
Your first session focuses on understanding your symptoms, history, and what brings you to therapy. I liken this session to you going to the doctor and telling them "what's been bothering you lately". I also always say this will be the "getting all in your business" session because I will ask you a lot of questions about a lot of factors of your life. As thorough and honest as you are willing to be will help us decide what arrangement of services and evidence based practices are needed to help you!
Starting therapy with me is a 3 step process. Our initial session is used to understand what has happened to you in life and what symptoms you are having to get a provisional diagnosis. This provisional diagnosis will help me tailor treatment to what evidence says helps best and help you feel less "icky" and alone.
Our second session will be discussing your healing goals and preferences. I liken this session to us creating a roadmap to your healing together. YOU are in the driving seat and I will be pointing things out and making suggestions. I did get the education and experience BUT YOU are the expert in your life! By the end of this session we will have decided your long term and short term (3-6 month) goals, what steps we need to take to reach those, what intervention array is needed (therapy, medication, case management, etc), and what your life will look like when you are ready to graduate from therapy.
Our third session and beyond will be the actual therapy work to achieve your goals! I say "it's your life my guy I'm just living in it with you". What you need to work on that day is decided based on what we listed on your treatment plan AND what barriers and strengths you had between sessions! I will never tell you what we are gonna do in these sessions but will give you options based on your goals. I practice in many modalities so we may be talking, creating, or practicing skills!
Standard sessions last 53-60 minutes. Extended sessions (75–90 minutes) are available AS NEEDED for trauma processing, EMDR, or deeper narrative work.
My process for sessions generally equals 5-10 minutes of " Checking in and catching up", 45 minutes of "Goal work", and 5-10 minutes of "checking out and planning".
In my experience, I have observed that Telehealth is less effective than in person sessions with the exception of in a few circumstances. However, as a mom of 3 and a human with wonky days sometimes, I UNDERSTAND things come up! I am willing to offer Telehealth services AFTER our initial meeting if deemed therapeutically beneficial. If you will need Telehealth services please ask! We will discuss the pros and cons of using the service for that session. All virtual sessions follow HIPAA‑compliant standards which include in a private room, not driving, and you physically being in the state of KY.
Anyone with a pulse! I value being adaptable and my 5 years of agency experience has equipped me with skills to work well with anyone 2-99 years old. If you think we will be a good fit then I am willing to give it a shot! I do specialize in early childhood clients 2-6 years old and teens and young adults with complex trauma.
I live 30 minutes from my office and thus I prefer cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance to be able to effectively reschedule you and make wise use of my time. Again, I am a human who has wonky days so I understand life happens! COMMUNICATION IS KEY! If you are transparent with me and show with your actions you value our time I am flexible! IF 3 no shows or same day cancellations happen in a 60 day window a late cancellations or missed appointment fee may be billed at the full session rate. After 3 no shows, same day cancellations, or 60 unplanned days without a session your services will be closed with a letter of how to reopen services!
A limited number of sliding‑scale spots are available based on financial need. Availability varies month to month.
